Career Exploration
Students will research careers in the area of interactive media. Focus will be on education, job skills and experience required to achieve a career in this area. Possible careers to study are:
- production assistant
- web designer
- web developer
- computer programmer
- server administrator
- content strategist
- web editor
- web writer
- web analyst
- usability specialist
- project manager
- technical architect
- information architect
- new business developer
- any additional job titles should be discussed with the facilitator
Assignment - 2 blocks
Students will begin their exploration of careers by completing a skills assessment to see where their interest and skills lead them.
Step 1 – Explore a career in Interactive Media Once you choose a job, create a Word document and answer these questions:
a. What is this job about? Summarize in a paragraph what a person in this position does for a living.
b. What education/training is needed to get this job?
c. What salary can you expect to earn in this job? (This information will need to be searched for using Google)
Step 2 – Students will create a WYSIWYG web page (using a site like Weebly) to share the information they collect with others. Teacher will provide login information for this web page.
Step 3 - Complete the Career Interest Profiler at Naviance
(Naviance > Career tab > Career Interest Profiler)
